What is DRM?

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a mechanism for protecting the copyrights of content items that are distributed via the Internet. It enables secure distribution and disables illegal distribution of the file. Typically, a DRM system protects the file by encrypting it so that it can only be accessed by authorized users. In terms of video files, DRM can control when the video may be played and prevent unauthorized copying of the file.
